Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

by Mark Twain

A boy and an escaped man raft down a river together, and the boy spends the whole journey unlearning what his town taught him to believe was right. Twain called it the best book he ever wrote, and then argued with people for the rest of his life about what it actually meant. Skip the ending if you want to stay angry at it; I never quite manage to.
