Journey

Roughing It

by Mark Twain

Young Sam Clemens travels west by stagecoach to Nevada, where he tries silver mining, newspaper work and getting rich, and fails at nearly all of them. It is exaggerated in the best tradition of the tall tale. Before the railway, this is what a long journey felt like.
