The Library After Dark

Journey

Following the Equator

by Mark Twain

Mark Twain’s account of the lecture tour round the world he made in 1895 and 1896 to pay off his debts. A good part of it is spent in Australia and New Zealand, where he admired the cities and was charmed by the people. It is as funny as you would expect, and angrier than you might, about what the colonists did to the people who were there before them.
