Pausanias’ Description of Greece

by Pausanias

Pausanias, a Greek from Asia Minor, travelled round Greece in the second century AD and wrote what amounts to the first guidebook to it, temple by temple and statue by statue. Archaeologists still dig with him in hand, and he has led them to more than one lost site. This is the first volume of A. R. Shilleto’s translation.
