Fairy Tale

The Kiltartan Wonder Book

by Lady Gregory

Lady Gregory gathered these tales from the people around Kiltartan, near her house at Coole Park in County Galway, and published them in 1910 with pictures by her daughter-in-law, Margaret. Coole had seven woods, which Yeats, who spent his summers there, named in his book In the Seven Woods. The tales are told in the English of the place, which came to be called Kiltartanese.
