Our Irish Theatre

by Lady Gregory

Lady Gregory’s account of how she, Yeats and Edward Martyn founded the Irish Literary Theatre in 1899, and how it became the Abbey. It covers the Playboy riots, and the company’s tour of America in 1911 and 1912, where the play caused riots again. She wrote it in 1913, while it was all still happening.
