The Library After Dark

Fantasy

A Prisoner in Fairyland

by Algernon Blackwood

A rich man who has forgotten how to dream goes back to the village of his childhood, and finds the children there are weaving a net of starlight to catch the grown-ups. Algernon Blackwood published it in 1913, and Edward Elgar wrote the music for The Starlight Express, the play made from it, in 1915. In the end it is the grown-ups who need rescuing.
