Fading Supernatural

The Willows

by Algernon Blackwood

Two men paddling a canoe down the Danube camp on a sandbank among endless willows, and come to understand they are not welcome there. Very little happens and it is unbearable. H. P. Lovecraft thought it the finest weird tale in the language.
