The Wendigo

by Algernon Blackwood

Two men go fishing in the Canadian wilderness and one of them comes back having heard something run on the wind that no one is supposed to survive hearing. Blackwood insisted the woods themselves were the real subject of his fiction. I would not recommend it to visitors who plan on camping this season.
