The King of Elfland’s Daughter

by Lord Dunsany

The men of Erl ask their lord for a magic lord to rule them, and so his son Alveric rides east past the fields we know, through the twilight, to win the daughter of the King of Elfland. Lord Dunsany, who lived at Dunsany Castle in County Meath, published it in 1924. Time runs differently on the other side of the border, and the book is about what that costs.
