Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection

by Alfred Russel Wallace

Wallace collected here the essays in which he had worked out natural selection on his own, among them the paper he sent Darwin from the Malay Archipelago in 1858. He gave the theory to Darwin without complaint, and later wrote a book about it called Darwinism. The two men stayed on friendly terms for the rest of Darwin’s life.
