Fairy Tale

Popular Tales from the Norse

by Jørgen Moe and Peter Christen Asbjørnsen

Peter Christen Asbjørnsen, a zoologist, and Jørgen Moe, a clergyman who became a bishop, walked the valleys of Norway collecting tales and published them from 1841. George Webbe Dasent translated them into English in 1859. Here are the Three Billy-Goats Gruff, East o’ the Sun and West o’ the Moon, and more trolls in the forest than anyone could wish.
