Glaucus; Or, The Wonders of the Shore

by Charles Kingsley

Charles Kingsley, the author of The Water-Babies, wrote this little book in 1855 to send Victorians down to the shore with a net and a magnifying glass. It came in the middle of a craze for seaweeds, sea anemones and aquariums that stripped whole stretches of the Devon coast. Kingsley was one of the first clergymen to welcome the Origin.
