Natural History

Darwiniana

by Asa Gray

Asa Gray of Harvard was one of the few people Darwin told about his theory before 1858, in a letter of 1857 that later helped to show he had had it first. Gray became its champion in America, while arguing that natural selection need not banish a Creator. These are his essays and reviews on the subject, collected in 1876.
