Legend

The Gods of Pegāna

by Lord Dunsany

Dunsany invents a whole mythology from scratch: the lesser gods of Pegāna who make and unmake worlds while their creator sleeps. The prose is like scripture written by a dreamer; Tolkien and Lovecraft both read it closely.
