Bliss, and Other Stories

by Katherine Mansfield

Mansfield’s collection of 1920, with “Prelude”, the long story of the Burnell family’s move to a house in the country outside Wellington, drawn from her own childhood. The title story, of a young wife on the evening of a dinner party, ends on one of the quietest and most devastating discoveries in fiction. Mansfield was born in Wellington in 1888 and left New Zealand for good at nineteen.
