Captain Cook’s Journal During His First Voyage Round the World

by James Cook

James Cook’s own journal of the voyage of the Endeavour from 1768 to 1771, printed from the manuscript and edited by W. J. L. Wharton in 1893. On it Cook charted the coasts of New Zealand and sailed up the east coast of Australia, landing at Botany Bay in April 1770. The entries are plain, exact and seamanlike, and now and then astonished.
