Maori Folk-Tales of the Port Hills

by James Cowan

James Cowan, who grew up speaking Māori and spent his life recording the history of the country, gathered these stories of the hills above Lyttelton Harbour, near Christchurch. They are the traditions of the place, of its peaks and headlands and the people who named them. It is a short book, best read with a map of the hills beside it.
