The Library After Dark

Legend

Ancient Legends, Mystic Charms & Superstitions of Ireland

by Lady Wilde

Jane Wilde, who wrote patriotic verse as Speranza and was the mother of Oscar Wilde, drew on her husband William’s notes and on the people of the west for this book of 1887. Fairy forts, the evil eye, cures for every ailment and the stories told about them are all here. It is a rich, strange book to dip into.
