The Watsons

by Jane Austen

Austen began The Watsons in Bath in about 1804 and put it aside after a few chapters, perhaps when her father died early the next year. Emma Watson, brought up away from home by a well-off aunt, comes back to a poor clergyman’s family and three sisters in need of husbands. This edition finishes the story, with an ending by a later hand, L. Oulton.
