Love and Freindship

by Jane Austen

Austen wrote these pieces as a girl at Steventon to make her family laugh, and copied them out into three notebooks she called Volume the First, Second and Third. Love and Freindship, spelled as she spelled it at fourteen, sends up the novel of sensibility, whose heroines faint alternately on a sofa. With it is her History of England, by a partial, prejudiced and ignorant historian.
