Legend

Heimskringla

by Snorri Sturluson

The sagas of the kings of Norway, from the legendary Ynglings descended from Odin to the battle of Re in 1177, written in Iceland around 1230 by Snorri Sturluson. Its name comes from its opening words, kringla heimsins, “the circle of the world”. In Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Professor Lidenbrock buys a copy in Icelandic, and a runic parchment falls out of it.
