Journey

Climbing on the Himalaya and Other Mountain Ranges

by J. Norman Collie

Norman Collie was a chemist at University College London who spent his holidays climbing in Skye, the Alps, the Canadian Rockies and, in 1895, the Himalaya. That year he went to Nanga Parbat with A. F. Mummery and Geoffrey Hastings, the first attempt on one of the great Himalayan peaks, and Mummery and two Gurkhas disappeared on the mountain. This book of 1902 tells that story, and others from happier ranges.
