The Library After Dark

Journey

Station Life in New Zealand

by Lady Barker

Letters home from Mary Anne Barker, who went out to Canterbury in 1865 with her second husband and lived on a sheep station in the hills above the plains. There are floods, a shearing, a ball, and the great snowstorm of 1867 that buried the sheep. It is cheerful, observant and still a pleasure to read.
