The Life of the Bee

by Maurice Maeterlinck

Maurice Maeterlinck, the Belgian playwright, kept bees for twenty years and wrote of the hive as a city with a spirit of its own. It is half natural history and half meditation, and beekeepers have argued with it ever since. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911.
