The Old English Herbals

by Eleanour Sinclair Rohde

The herbals of England from the Anglo-Saxon leechbooks to the seventeenth century, written in 1922 by a gardener who loved them. Rohde quotes generously and prescribes nothing. Her plants all have names; the ones in the manuscript on the lectern are still waiting for theirs.
