Thus Spake Zarathustra

by Friedrich Nietzsche

A prophet comes down from his mountain to announce that an old idea has died and nobody has adjusted the furniture accordingly. It reads more like scripture than argument, which was rather the intent, and it has been badly misused by people who stopped reading before the difficult parts. Nietzsche wrote it to be sung as much as understood; that is precisely why it upsets so many careful readers.
