Memoirs of Fanny Hill

by John Cleland

A woman recounts her whole life to a correspondent who apparently required rather a lot of specific detail. It was banned for two centuries in one country or another, which has done more for its reputation than any of its actual prose. I keep it here strictly on principle; the principle being that a catalogue which only shelves respectable books is not being honest about what libraries are for.
