The Great Sea-Serpent

by A. C. Oudemans

Antoon Cornelis Oudemans, a Dutch zoologist, gathered every report of a sea-serpent he could find, from Olaus Magnus to the ships’ logs of his own time, and in 1892 published them with his verdict. The creature, he decided, was real: a huge seal with a very long neck and tail, which he named Megophias. Few were persuaded, but nobody has collected the evidence more thoroughly.
