Comedy

Stalky & Co.

by Rudyard Kipling

Three boys at a school for the sons of army officers on the Devon coast wage a long, inventive war on masters, prefects and a rival study, and nearly always win. Kipling drew it from his own years at the United Services College at Westward Ho!, and Beetle, the bookish one in spectacles, is himself. Stalky was his friend Lionel Dunsterville, who grew up to be a general.
