The Bucolics and Eclogues(eBook #230)
Read it in the Library After Dark Or read it as plain textPastoral poems about shepherds and idealised country life, written by a young poet who had not yet attempted the epic that would make him immortal. Consider it the practice before the masterpiece. Even his warm-up exercises hold up remarkably well.
