The Aeneid

by Virgil

Aeneas escapes burning Troy with his father on his back and his son by the hand, and sails to find a new home in Italy. Virgil wrote it as the founding story of Rome and died before he had finished revising it. The love of Dido, queen of Carthage, in the fourth book, is the part everyone remembers.
