Journey

A Voyage to Terra Australis

by Matthew Flinders

Matthew Flinders’s account of his voyage in the Investigator, which in 1802 and 1803 sailed all the way round Australia and showed it to be one continent. He argued for calling it Australia, and the name stuck. He finished the book after six and a half years held by the French on Mauritius, and it was published in London the day before he died, in July 1814.
