Ghosts

Ghosts I Have Met and Some Others

by John Kendrick Bangs

Bangs treats haunting as an awkward social call: alarming in outline, but full of etiquette, misunderstandings, and practical complaints. The jokes arrive wearing sheets, yet the collection also records how readily the supernatural could be made domestic. A useful antidote to a depot grown too solemn.
