The Mysterious Affair at Styles
Read it in the Library After Dark Or read it as plain textA retired soldier moves in with an old friend just as that friend’s wealthy stepmother is poisoned in a locked room. It was Christie’s very first novel, and the detective introduced in it would go on to solve rather a lot more of these for her. Watch how confidently the trick is already assembled, even this early.
