The Book of the Dead

by E. A. Wallis Budge

The Egyptian spells that guided the dead through the dangers of the underworld to the judgment, where the heart was weighed against the feather of truth. E. A. Wallis Budge of the British Museum translated them from the Papyrus of Ani, which was made more than three thousand years ago. His readings have dated, but the spells are as strange and beautiful as ever.
