King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table

by Thomas Malory

A boy pulls a sword from a stone and spends a lifetime discovering that ruling well is considerably harder than the destiny that announced it. Malory gathered centuries of scattered legend into the version most of what came after has borrowed from since. The Round Table’s whole tragedy is that it was built to be equal, and equal tables are difficult to keep that way.
