Biography

Jane Austen and Her Works

by Sarah Tytler

Sarah Tytler was the pen name of Henrietta Keddie, a Scottish novelist who wrote a great many books of her own. This one, of 1880, tells Austen’s life and then goes through the novels one by one, for readers coming to them for the first time. It belongs to the first generation of books about her, written after her nephew’s Memoir had made her famous again.
