A Narrative of the Expedition to Botany-Bay

by Watkin Tench

Watkin Tench, a young officer of marines, sailed with the First Fleet in 1787 and wrote this account of the voyage and the first months of the settlement at Sydney Cove. It was published in London in 1789. He is curious and humane, and his pages on the Aboriginal people he met are among the most valuable we have.
