Under the Waves

by R. M. Ballantyne

R. M. Ballantyne spent six years as a clerk for the Hudson’s Bay Company before he began writing books for boys. After a reader pointed out a mistake about coconuts in The Coral Island, he made a point of learning his subjects at first hand. This one, of 1876, follows a young diver at work on wrecks and harbour walls in the copper helmet and canvas suit of his day.
