The Expedition of Humphry Clinker
Read it in the Library After Dark Or read it as plain textA grumbling Welsh squire tours Britain with his household, and each of them writes letters home describing the same places entirely differently. Humphry Clinker is the ragged postilion they pick up on the road. It was Smollett’s last novel, published in 1771, the year he died.
