The Black Arrow

by Robert Louis Stevenson

An orphan is swept up by a company of outlaws during England’s civil wars, and discovers loyalty is rarely as simple as which side you were born on. Stevenson wrote it fast, for money, and still could not stop himself writing it well. The title refers to an actual arrow; the book is considerably less subtle about aiming for your attention.
