The Library After Dark

Adventure

Tom Swift and His Submarine Boat

by Victor Appleton

Tom Swift, a boy inventor, builds a submarine and goes after the treasure of a sunken ship, with rivals close behind. The Tom Swift books were written to a plan by the Stratemeyer Syndicate under the name Victor Appleton, the first of them mostly by Howard Garis. This one came out in 1910, and it is a good deal more cheerful than Captain Nemo.
