Ralph Delahaye Paine, a journalist and writer of sea stories, collected in 1911 the true histories of pirates’ hoards and treasure ships and of the expeditions sent after them. Most of those expeditions found nothing. Captain Nemo, who helped himself from the Spanish galleons at the bottom of Vigo Bay, would have been amused.
