Sexti Properti Elegiarvm: Liber Primvs
Read it in the Library After Dark Or read it as plain textThe first book of elegies by Propertius, almost all about Cynthia, who is by turns cruel, faithless, adored and asleep. It begins with her name: “Cynthia prima suis miserum me cepit ocellis.” Ezra Pound loved him, and wrote a famous and much-argued-over homage.
