The Library After Dark

Adventure

King Solomon's Mines

by H. Rider Haggard

Allan Quatermain takes a map drawn in a dying man's blood and turns it into an expedition across country no outsider has mapped, chasing a brother, a fortune, and a mountain range shaped like a woman's chest. Haggard had actually been to the places he describes, which is why the boredom and the terror both feel earned. The diamonds are almost beside the point by the time you reach them.
