The Arabian Nights: Their Best-known Tales

by Kate Douglas Wiggin

Kate Douglas Wiggin, who wrote Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, chose and edited these tales for young readers in 1909 with her sister, Nora Archibald Smith. Maxfield Parrish painted its pictures, all violet skies and towering clouds. Wiggin had opened one of the first free kindergartens in California, in San Francisco in 1878.
