Cato Maior de Senectute

by Cicero

Cicero’s dialogue on old age, in which the elderly Cato explains to two young friends why growing old is not so bad. He wrote it at sixty-two, in the dark months after his daughter’s death, under Caesar’s dictatorship. It is one of the kindest books in Latin.
