The Library After Dark

Adventure

The Lost World

by Arthur Conan Doyle

Professor Challenger drags a skeptical expedition up a South American plateau and proves, rather smugly, that he was right all along: the dinosaurs never left. Doyle wrote it as a lark between Holmes stories, and it shows in the best way — nothing here apologizes for being an adventure. I have never met a reader who didn't want the plateau to be real.
