A Girl of the Limberlost

by Gene Stratton-Porter

A girl trades moths for an education, collecting specimens from an Indiana swamp to pay her own way toward the life she actually wants. Stratton-Porter clearly loved that swamp more than most of her human characters, and it shows in every description of it. Ambition, in this one, smells faintly of cedar and wet leaves.
